It's official - Puss in Boots is back and coming right at you in 3D on the silver screen, in Paramount Pictures' Winter blockbuster "Puss in Boots". That's not the only place you can see Puss though, as Paramount commissioned Red Box to produce a digital promotional campaign for the movie release to roll out on the Windows Live Messenger 'Personal Expressions' platform.

It's official - those robots in disguise are back and coming right at you in 3D on the silver screen, in Paramount Pictures' summer blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon. That's not the only place you can see Optimus and friends though, as Paramount commissioned Red Box to produce a digital promotional campaign for the movie release to roll out, (geddit?), on the Windows Live Messenger 'Personal Expressions' platform.

The film sees Shia LaBeouf return as Sam Witwicky and when a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us.

The free downloads available include profile pictures, background pictures, animated emoticons, a set of clever animated, dynamic display pictures that alter according to your mood and some full screen animated winks – all of which can be used within any messenger chat conversation with your friends.

BBC Radio 4 and Pozzitive Television launch new comedy quiz show "The 3rd Degree"

"The 3rd Degree" is a brand new comedy quiz show for BBC Radio 4. It was recorded on location at a different University every week, and it pits three Undergraduates against three of their Professors in a fast, funny, but academic quiz.

Together with host Steve Punt, Pozzitive toured the (sometimes posh, sometimes murky, but always welcoming!) Union buildings, cafés and lecture halls of six of the UK's best Universities, and now you can hear the results.

Red Box was commissioned to produce original title artwork and promotional materials for the launch of the show including HTML emails, YouTube and Twitter skins and a various other digital media assets.

The first show is broadcast on Monday 21st Febraury at 1.30pm, (repeated 11pm Saturday evening) on BBC Radio 4. The series will run for six weeks and will be available on iPlayer.

Twentieth Century Fox, Red Box New Media and a plan come together for "The A Team" ... and we love it when a plan comes together!

Twentieth Century Fox and Red Box New Media have teamed up to promote the worldwide theatrical release of "The A Team" through multiple digital and mobile outlets.

The A Team follows the exciting and daring exploits of a colourful team of former Special Forces soldiers who were set up for a crime they did not commit. Going 'rogue', they utilise their unique talents to try and clear their names and find the true culprit.

To help promote the film across the multiple markets, our friends at Fox commissioned Red Box to produce a raft of free, digital content for users to download from a variety of sources such as the official movie websites and third party partner sites; including the MSN and Orange portals.

Part of the promotional offering is an online, global campaign, providing free viral content across more than 20 markets via Microsoft's Window Live Messenger "Personal Expressions". Users can download free animated content with which to customise their instant messaging experience and even send to friends, mid conversation.

Red Box also produced over 25 Realtone ringtones for various mobile devices; each of which has been specially edited into six different variants – so the content fits the mobile device perfectly. The ringtones featured music and dialogue from the film including a selection from the main characters Hannibal, (Liam Neeson), Face, (Bradley Cooper), BA, (Quinton "Rampage" Jackson) and Murdock, (Sharlto Copley).

Also produced and available for download on multiple mobile devices are a massive bundle of wallpapers and animated screensavers; all of which are available in a large variety of languages and from various sources. Multiple language variants were produced for international markets and a completely different set of materials were created specifically for the domestic markets.

Do you have a need for cool, free A Team stuff?
Do you think you can find it?
Well, if you’re not sure then maybe you should visit ... the official site!

Here comes the big dawg! It’s Twentieth Century Fox's "Marmaduke"; brought to you by Red Box New Media

Twentieth Century Fox has, once again, commissioned Red Box New Media to aid in the digital promotion of their latest theatrical release – in the (very) large shape of "Marmaduke"; the world's most lovable Great Dane.

Marmaduke leaps from comic strip fame, (appearing in 600 newspapers in over 20 countries), to big screen stardom this summer and in this family comedy event, the "Duke" is living large in Orange County, California. But fitting in with his new four-legged friends - and a potential romantic interest - isn't always easy for a super-sized teenage dog.

To help promote the film across the multiple markets, our friends at Fox commissioned Red Box to produce a veritable feast of free, digital content for users to download from a variety of sources such as the official movie websites and third party partner sites.

The large juicy bone in the middle of the feast is an online, global campaign offering free viral content across more than 20 markets via Microsoft's Window Live Messenger "Personal Expressions". Users can download free animated content with which to customise their instant messaging experience and even send to friends, mid conversation.

Also produced and offered up for delectable, digital delight are downloads for mobile devices including a massive bundle of wallpapers and animated screensavers; all of which are available in a large variety of languages and from various sources.

So why not live large and sniff out some cool, free stuff whilst you're online...

Twentieth Century Fox International and Red Box New Media bring "Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief" to life across Europe in Windows Live Messenger

Greek mythology meets modern day high school teen angst shenanigans in Twentieth Century Fox's latest blockbuster "Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief"; an all-action mystical extravaganza from the director behind not one, but two of the Harry Potter films.

Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school - but that's the least of his challenges. It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learnt that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod - half human, half god. At the same time, Zeus, the king of all gods, has accused Percy of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt ... the original weapon of mass destruction.

Now, Percy must prepare for the adventure of a lifetime, and the stakes couldn't be higher.

To promote the film across the millions of Windows Live Messenger users, our friends at Fox commissioned Red Box to produce another sparklingly effective Personal Expression campaign – a set of free fun animations and downloadable goodies that users can use to spice up their conversation windows and send to their friends mid-conversation.

The campaign was launched over 18 markets throughout Europe and promoted heavily with rich media and standard display advertising banners dotted around Microsoft Advertising properties, including Hotmail, Messenger and the MSN portals.

Interaction with the campaign assets has been extremely high and feedback very positive which, given the tight production schedule is particularly pleasing.

Twentieth Century Fox International launch "Alvin And The Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel" with global digital advertising campaign.

Festive family fun can be had by all as the squeakquel to the smash hit "Alvin & The Chipmunks" comes to a cinema near you this Christmas. To launch the theatrical release of "Alvin & The Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel" our friends at Fox commissioned Red Box New Media to generate a veritable mountain of digital goodies for a wide variety of advertising platforms.

The film follows pop sensations Alvin, Simon and Theodore as they end up in the care of Dave Seville's twenty-something nephew Toby. The boys must put aside music super stardom to return to school, and are tasked with saving the school's music program by winning the $25,000 prize in a battle of the bands. But the Chipmunks unexpectedly meet their match in three singing chipmunks known as The Chipettes - Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette. Romantic and musical sparks are ignited when the Chipmunks and Chipettes square off.

Our work on the campaign included the creation of English language display banners, rich media banners and display units, animated email signatures, Microsoft Windows Live Messenger 'Personal Expression' elements, desktop wallpapers, mobile wallpapers, PC screensavers, mobile screensavers and custom creative assets for placement in digital outlets such as Habbo Hotel, Hotmail, Messenger and the MSN portals. We also versioned each set of assets for up to as many as 28 markets.

"Part of the challenge on this project was making sure that the elements worked as well as they could within a specific market; making them as relevant to the local market as possible", says Red Box Creative Director Adam Jennings, "to that end we made numerous design tweaks to incorporate local market differences".

In the end we made over 600 different pieces of creative material for the launch - each one lovingly crafted - and so now we're word perfect in Chipmunk and can sing "All The Single Ladies" at Chipmunk pitch ... in 28 languages; quite a party trick!

This was our 7th campaign of this nature for Twentieth Century Fox in 2009, (our 16th collaboration with Fox overall).

Merry Christmas from all of us at Red Box

Hello again

As you are no doubt aware, it's that time of year where we put fingers to keyboards to express, in written word, our best wishes for you and yours over the festive period and into the coming year. A natural part of this process is a reflective look back over the past 12 months. 2009 has been a year so monumental for Red Box New Media that it can only be described by cliché ... 'the best yet'.

Once again we've had great fun with working with all our clients and we’re very proud of the work we've produced. Here are some of the years' highlights:

We helped Hugh Jackman hack and slash his way to the top of the charts in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" with a global digital advertising campaign that offered free goodies for download on Windows Live Messenger [ Read more here ]

We helped Microsoft launch Windows Live Messenger 9 in France by creating a special set of fun animated emoticons, exclusive to French users only [ Read more here ]

We got Chow Yun Fats' flaming balls off to a flying start with a digital advertising campaign for "Dragonball Evolution" [ Read more here ]

Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson and Hank Azaria, (amongst others), featured heavily in our multi-region, digital advertising campaign for "Night At the Museum 2". No monkeys were harmed during the making of this campaign! [ Read more here ]

We launched the "Online Encyclopaedia of British Comedy" for Pozzitive Television – the legends behind TV hits like "Little Britain", "dinnerladies" and "Coogan's Run" and radio comedy from the likes of Armando Iannucci, Jeremy Hardy and Simon Pegg. [ Read more here ]

Following on from the French 'taster'; we produced a global, integrated digital campaign for "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" that included free goodies via Windows Live Messenger and various other freebies via ICQ; with banners and buttons to boot! [ Read more here ]

July saw the launch of yet more corporate websites for production companies with Big Bear Films, (makers of comedy hits like "My Hero" and "Big Top"), and Summer Films, (creators of the ever popular series "Living With My Idol" and "My Shocking Story"). [ Read more here ]

Launching in time to be the ideal Christmas stocking filler was a brand new comedy DVD, "Milton Jones Live Universe Tour, Part One: Earth"; for which Red Box produced all sleeve and on-body artwork as well as promotional materials. [ Read more here ]

Those lovable, hirsute boys, The Hairy Bikers, came back to our TV screens with a bang – and a brand new series plus multiple 'specials' over the year. To celebrate the fact we revamped their website from ground up and have even found time to launch a shop full of their own product range. [ See more here ]

October saw us go to back to the silver screen, chasing the tail of that adorable rogue the "Fantastic Mr Fox", creating messenger and mobile goodness for all! [ Read more here ]

Before finishing up the year with a massive integrated digital campaign to promote the launch of "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel". With over 580 different pieces of creative material created, ranging from screensavers to mobile artwork to messenger goodies; all going live in over 15 countries and on at least 7 different technology platforms ... we're expecting you to buy a ticket to see the film, OK?

But that wasn't all for the year. We also found time for many other projects, collaborating with existing clients and partners and welcoming new clients into the family; like multi-award winning British actress Manjinder Virk, [ See more here ], and Father Films, who's award winning documentary "Naming Pluto" we'd highly recommend you watch, [ See more here ].

There were, of course, too many projects to name in total, but sufficed to say that we've enjoyed working on each and every one and are extremely excited about what's coming up throughout 2010. Many of you may well be aware of what we're up to here in the studio, but should you wish to follow what we're doing, you can always find out more by either signing up to our Studio Blog, (http://www.redboxnewmedia.com/blog), becoming a fan of us on Facebook, (http://www.facebook.com/redboxnewmedia) or reading our daily ramblings on Twitter, (http://www.twitter.com/redboxnewmedia).

Finally, we'd like to dedicate all of our work this year to three very special men: Kenneth Baxter, Alan Smiles and John Stroud; who will all be deeply missed.

And so, as another year comes to a close and the turkey overload and in-laws loom ever closer, I'll take the opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2010.
